Wanted Hit and Run Fugitive Couple

Police are appealing for help from expats and holidaymakers in tracking down a British couple who have been on the run in Cyprus for six years. Wayne Smith, 38, jumped bail after admitting causing death by dangerous driving of a young man he hit during a car race with a friend. His girlfriend Julie Anne Skelding, 36, admitted giving him a false alibi. They both fled the UK before they were due in court for sentencing over the death of 22-year-old waiter Mohammed Idrees. His brother Yusuf Mohammed said: "I feel Wayne Smith should never have been given the opportunity to get away after his trial and six years later he has still not been sentenced. Mohammed Idrees was killed in the hit and run "I would say to him that he was man enough to take a life and he should own up to his actions. "We have lost someone we loved dearly and we feel just anger towards Wayne Smith. We hope someone will spot him and help get him arrested." The couple are among nine Most Wanted fugitives from British justice who are being revealed later in a joint appeal by Crimestoppers, the Serious Organised Crime Agency and the Cyprus police. Crimestoppers founder Lord Ashcroft said: "While these suspected criminals will see Cyprus as a safe place to evade law enforcement, my belief is that with the help of the local public and expat community these individuals will not be able to escape justice for much longer." Smith had already been convicted and expected to be jailed for causing the death of Mr Idrees ...
