| A fourteen vehicle pile-up in China's northwest Qinghai province on Tuesday has killed eight people and injured 28 others. The accident happened in Guangou village. The brakes of a coal truck failed, slamming the vehicle into oncoming traffic and pedestrians before it crashed into a road sign. All 28 injured have been hospitalized. Seven of them are in a critical condition. Road safety is a major concern in China. Last month eleven Chinese kindergarteners died when their overcrowded minivan plunged into a pond.
