Who Killed Jesus?

Who killed Jesus? Romans or Jews? Click "Show more" to read the full text. Jews accused Jesus of blasphemy and arrested him. They took Jesus in the house of Jewish high priest Caiaphas for trial. In the trial, Jewish high priest and Jewish leaders brought many false witnesses who testified that Jesus committed blasphemy by calling himself God's son. When high priest asked Jesus if he claimed to be the God's son, Jesus denied that he claimed to be God's son. (There are four gospels that are considered as authentic by Christians. These are: Gospel of Mathew, Gospel of Luke, Gospel of John, and Gospel of Mark. All of these Gospels except Mark's Gospel say that Jesus denied the charge of blasphemy against him. Only Mark's Gospel says Jesus accepted the charge of blasphemy against him). Despite of the denial of the accusation of blasphemy, Jewish high priest and Jewish leaders voted on putting Jesus on death. (Note that the trial took place to follow the procedure of sentencing someone. The verdict was pre-determined. Jewish high priest and Jewish leaders prepared false witnesses before the trial so they can put Jesus to death). But there was just one problem. The court of Jewish high priest didn't have the power to execute people. And that's where the Romans come into the story. Judaea (today's Israel) used to be a colony of Roman Empire.
