Dozens killed in Colombia bus crash At least 26 people were killed on Monday when a passenger bus swerved off a highway and flipped over in central Colombia. Authorities say 15 passengers were hurt in the crash, but that the death toll could rise since some of them were severely injured. The driver, who survived the accident unscathed, said brake failure was to blame. Felipa Ruiz, a passenger who also survived, recounts moments of terror as the bus veered out of control. (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) CRASH SURVIVOR, FELIPA RUIZ, SAYING: "In that moment I thought the worst and since we were practically on a slope I thought it was going to be more difficult to control. So I bent down and I started praying, nothing else. I don't remember anything else, the reactions or where we were, I don't know if we left the highway, or if we fell into an abyss, I don't know anything - I know that when I woke up I felt like something was cutting off my legs." The bus, which was on its way to Cali, was carrying product distributors who had attended a coffee fair in Bogota over the weekend. Approximately 5000 people are killed each year in traffic accidents in Colombia. | From: VideoTopNews Views: 0 0 ratings | |
