Police have confirmed that Gracie Mackay, one of the three children who were rescued after a canoe tragedy in a West Highlands sea loch, has died at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow of her injuries. Taking the death toll to four people. The canoe capsized on Sunday over the bank holiday weekend with six people on board. This death follows Ewen Beaton, aged five, his two-year-old brother Jamie who were earlier airlifted to safety but died in hospital and their father Ewen Fraser Beaton, 32, who is missing also presumed dead. Garry McKay the father of Gracie and eight year old sister Callie survived by swimming 500 metres to the shore. He then ran a mile to a house outside the village of Gairloch to raise the alarm, and was reunited with his daughter Callie as he was running back to the shore. The children were wearing flotation devices but the two men were not wearing any buoyancy aids. It is still unclear what caused the accident at the moment. Statements issued on behalf of the Beaton and Mackay families have said 'we are utterly devastated by what had happened and we request that our privacy in respected.
