100 die in Bangladesh landslides. CSF Rieti

Landslides triggered by monsoon rains in Bangladesh have left almost 100 dead. Heavy rains that started early this week are loosening the ground in the country's south and southeast. In Chittagong and Cox's Bazar, landslides destroyed houses on Tuesday and Wednesday. Rescuers say there were 59 deaths in Chittagong and surrounding areas and 38 in Cox's Bazar. They say another 100 people are still unaccounted for. Bangladesh's weather authorities forecast more rain for the next few days. Rescue operations are continuing amid fears of more disasters. Every year landslides cause devastation during the country's monsoon season. In 2007, more than 100 people were killed. Jun. 28, 2012 - Updated 00:59 UTC (09:59 JST)
