Syria: rebels 'shoot down helicopter' Amateur video has purportedly captured the moment that a helicopter is fired upon, bursts into flames and crashes near Aleppo. 8:32PM GMT 25 Feb 2013 Dramatic amateur video uploaded by Syrian activists on Monday claims to show a regime helicopter being shot down by rebels near Mennegh Air Base, close to the border with Turkey. The incident purportedly took place on Sunday near Aleppo, Syria's largest city - the scene of some of the heaviest fighting of Syria's nearly two-year-old conflict. In the video, a missile appears to be fired, followed by a trail of white smoke, and then the aircraft goes down in flames. Voices in the background shout "God is great" as a man raises both hands in the air in celebration. Syrian activists have reported heavy fighting in the Aleppo area.
