Boy Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash In Bradford2

Two people were arrested after the collision in Rooley Lane on Saturday, at 7pm. A police car had stopped a red Seat Ibiza in a lay-by for a check but, when officers got out of their car, the vehicle sped off and hit the boy on a crossing close to an Asda store. The youngster has been named by police as Bilal Khizar. A police spokesman said: "He tragically died of his injuries." The car failed to stop and continued onto the Chain Bar roundabout on the M606, where it collided with two other vehicles. The car was later recovered on Westfield Lane, Wyke. Detective Superintendent Mark Ridley of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, who is leading the investigation, said: "This is a tragedy for the family and they are absolutely devastated. "Specially trained officers are currently working with them. I am appealing directly to anyone who saw the vehicle being driven or the incident to get in contact. "I need the community to come forward and tell me what has happened and what they have seen to help bring justice to the family." The two people arrested were seized overnight as a result of police inquiries, which were said to be at a very early stage.
