General Mills Anti-gay Marriage Activist Dies

An anti-gay marriage protester has died a week after video of him abandoning a fire he lit outside a cereal company went viral. In the video recorded by his son on August 5, Minnesota man Michael L Leisner set fire to a box of General Mills cereal Cheerios in protest of the company's stance on same-sex marriage. After trying unsuccessfully to stomp out the flames outside the company's corporate offices, Leisner and his son fled while part of the lawn was still on fire. The footage was posted online last Sunday and received coverage on late night talk shows Chelsea Lately and The Daily Show. Police announced that the arson would be investigated, but closed the case after Leisner died of a "massive heart attack" on Saturday, the Star-Tribune reports. Leisner suffered the heart attack while in his car waiting to pick up his sons from their tennis game. His pastor Dwight Denyes said Leisner was a "very loving and caring father" and that the video "did not accurately reflect who he was as an individual".
