	BBC News HD - Residents return home in Guatemala as volcano dies down 2012 Local residents in Guatemala have begun to return to their homes as the Fuego volcano dies down. Thousands of people had been evacuated after the volcano started spewing ash and lava. Volcanologists said powerful eruptions were catapulting burning rocks as high as 1000m (3280ft) above the crater and lava was flowing down its slopes.
