A two-year-old girl has died after falling 60ft (18.29m) from the fourth floor of a block of flats in Sheffield.
Police believe Ryaheen Banimuslem fell from the North Bank apartments on Willey Street in the city at about 16:30 BST on Wednesday.
Her father, Hikmat Banimuslem, said she had fallen through a broken glass panel of a communal garden balcony.
South Yorkshire Police said it was investigating the incident and appealed for information.
The toddler was taken to Sheffield Children's Hospital, but later died from her injuries.
In a statement, Mr Banimuslem said the family were "deeply shocked and saddened by this tragedy" and wanted peace to grieve for their "beautiful daughter".
'Very sad'Neighbour Baseem Alsabbagh said the balcony had been damaged by vandals about six weeks ago and was boarded up after the incident.
He said: "I feel very sad. Actually I cried so much I couldn't sleep yesterday because they're like my family."
Mr Banimuslem, who is a student at Sheffield Hallam University and is from Iraq, has called for management company Allsop Residential Investment to fix the balcony for the sake of other families.
"This garden is the only place [on the premises] where the children play and [the company] have to make it more secure," he said.
A spokesperson for Allsop Residential Investment said it was aware a "tragic incident" had occurred at one of its properties in Sheffield and was helping police with their inquiries.
