| A teenager who killed a gay man who had tried to counsel him about his sexuality has been jailed for 12 years. Ryan Esquierdo strangled Stuart Walker and then set fire to the 28-year old's body in Cumnock in Ayrshire. The judge ordered that the 19-year old should be supervised for a further five years after his release. In other news; An inquiry into the West Coast railway franchise fiasco has found 'serious problems' and 'unacceptable flaws'. The bidding process was investigated after the Government awarded the contract to First Group. The decision was later scrapped when Virgin launched legal action against the move. Meanwhile the Transport Minister has announced Virgin Trains will continue to run the route for 23 months. Elsewhere; The First Minister Alex Salmond has told MSPs that changing the system for approving new drugs for NHS patients would be unwise. It came as opposition leaders claimed cancer patients in Scotland were being short changed by the current system amid allegations of a second class service compared to that south of the border. Also in sport; Kris Commons has revealed he had no idea how crucial his winning penalty against Spartak Moscow was, admitting he stepped up to take the kick thinking that Barcelona were leading Benfica in the Nou Camp.
