US Ambassador Killed by Gaddafi Supporters

These terrorist militias were the groups that Hillary Clinton, John McCain, John Bolton and many other Neocons were begging the Obama Administration to support in February, 2011 in this same city of Benghazi. These are the same Libyan and foreign Arab terrorist forces that NATO saved from Libyan justice as Gaddafi commanded the military to put an end to their anarchy which started in Benghazi. Remember, John McCain and others, especially those of the Republican Party, criticized Barack Obama because, initially, he would not quickly join the French and British in Libya to stop Libya from putting an end to the criminal anarchy taking place in Libya.

We Killed Top Boko Haram Member in Kano - JTF - AllAfrica.com

Kano — The Joint Task Force in Kano yesterday said it killed a "media man"of the Jama'atu Ahlis Sunnah Lidda'awati wal-Jihad or Boko Haram sect in a shootout during an early morning operation in the state.

The military also said it captured two "field commanders" of the group.

Lt Ikedichi Iweha, the spokesperson of the taskforce, disclosed that the sect member killed was involved with the publicity apparatus of the sect.

"The man we have killed today is connected with their media activities," he said.

Iweha said security agents had commenced investigations with a view to uncovering the actual identity and name of the said member.

The military said two top Boko Haram commanders were also arrested during the operation "The two men are field commanders of the terrorist group. We are making efforts to get their identities; the process could take a long time."

He did not state if the three were found together by the military and SSS team that carried out the operation. According to him, some items were recovered from the members during the operation, but he did not give details.

However, a source close to the raid disclosed that the man, who was killed by the JTF, was the spokesperson of the Boko Haram sect, known as Abul Qaqa.

Security agents had earlier in the year claimed to have apprehended Qaqa, but the sect disputed it even as the same person continued to speak on its behalf.

But the security source said Qaqa was coming from Gombe State in an ash-colour Honda car, when a joint team of army and SSS, who had been on his trail, intercepted him.

"He was taking the wife of an arrested member to the hospital in Kano from Gombe, when he was accosted and killed by our men during a shootout," he said. The woman was said to be the one who revealed his identity to security operatives.

She had been taken into custody, it was gathered.

There was, however, no reaction from the Boko Haram sect over the reported killing and arrests of its members by the taskforce at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, Iweha has stated that JTF was yet to establish any link between the killing of a Civil Defence officer and members of his family a day earlier, with the arrested commanders, without ruling out the possibility.

"Considering that where the incident occurred is the same area as the place we arrested them, we cannot it is impossible. However, because we don't know the identity of the killers, we cannot conclude that they are behind it," Iweha explained.

US ambassadors killed in terror attacks in the line of duty - Washington Post (blog)

U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens was killed along with three other diplomats Wednesday in Benghazi when a rocket-propelled grenade struck their vehicle.

In addition to Stevens, here are some of the other U.S. ambassadors killed by in terror attacks in the last half-century:

John Gordon Mein, Guatemala (Aug. 28, 1968):Mein was ordered out of his limousine and gunned down in Guatemala City by guerrillas.

Cleo A. Noel, Jr., Sudan (March 1, l973): Noel was killed in an attack by guerrillas from the militant group Black September in the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Sudan.

Rodger P. Davies, Cyprus (Aug. 19, 1974): Davies was shot during a protest against the embassy following the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.

Francis E. Meloy, Jr., Lebanon (June 16, 1976): Meloy, his economic adviser and their driver were kidnapped by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and shot to death. The killers were acquitted in 1996 on the grounds that their cases fell within the scope of a 1991 amnesty law that covers crimes committed during wartime.

Adolph Dubs, Afghanistan (Feb. 14, 1979): Dubs was kidnapped by armed militants and held in the Kabul Hotel. They demanded the release of Badruddin Bahes, an imprisoned leader of their party. After an exchange of gunfire between Afghan police and the kidnappers, an American Embassy medical team found Dubs seated in a chair with several bullet wounds in his head and chest.

Two other U.S. ambassadors have died in plane crashes during the same period:

Two Suicide Near NATO Base in Afghanistan Kill Over a Dozen - Antiwar.com

Two suicide bombings in central Afghanistan carried out by the Taliban have killed at least nine civilians and four Afghan policemen, in the latest illustration of an unhindered insurgency and burgeoning chaos in America's near-forgotten war zone.

The first attack targeted the local governor's office in the district of Saidabad, while the second occurred near the compound, just outside a NATO military base.

After more than a decade of war, brutal military occupation, and corrupt nation-building in Afghanistan, the US has accomplished none of its stated goals. Not only is the Taliban insurgency as strong as ever, but Afghan security forces are increasingly turning their guns on NATO troops and criminal US-backed militias are contributing to factional warlordism across the country.

US and NATO forces are due to drawn down their presence in the country at the end of 2014, but many fear a surge in violence when they do, as well as a break-up into autonomous parts and a new competition for power in a land that has resisted central authority for centuries.

The US will be leaving Afghanistan far worse off than when they initially invaded, with a looming civil war that could last into the foreseeable future.

Despite the immense costs in blood and treasure for this glaring failure of a war – which is still ongoing, many Americans have to be reminded – neither President Obama or the GOP contender Mitt Romney will talk about it. But omitting the war from the political debate and ignoring its grave consequences will only make things worse.

US civilian killed by Afghan gunmen - CBS News

(AP) KABUL, Afghanistan - Gunmen killed three people in an ambush on a van in northern Afghanistan, including an American electrical engineer who had lived in the country for decades, Afghan and U.S. authorities said Tuesday.

The U.S. Embassy could not provide further details about the slain American because of privacy laws, but three Afghan security officials said he had been working in Afghanistan for about 30 years.

The Afghan officials said two or three assailants attack the vehicle Monday in northern Parwan province. Two Afghans ? the driver and one of the American's colleagues ? were also killed in the attack, said Shirin Agha, the police chief in Parwan's Siahgerd district.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the killings.

Agha said the American had "a long beard and he was wearing an Afghan shalwar kameez so he looked like an Afghan," referring to the long shirt and loose-fitting pants that most Afghan men wear.

"The villagers said this man had long-time contacts in this district, doing his electrical work," he added.

According to Agha, residents said the American had been in Afghanistan for about 30 years. No other details about the man, or who he worked for, were available. Afghan security officials said he may have worked for a foreign aid agency, but did not know which one.

Although uncommon, there are a number of foreigners who have lived in Afghanistan for years, some even for decades.

It was unclear whether the American was the intended victim of the attack, or whether the van was specifically targeted by the attackers.

If the American was indeed the target, officials did not know how the gunmen knew he was in it. It is unsafe for foreigners to travel unescorted in most parts of Afghanistan and they are often targets for insurgent and criminal groups.

An official for the Afghan National Security Directorate, Nihmatullah, said one of the shooters was wearing a uniform of the Afghan Local Police, a village-level security organization. Like many Afghans, he goes by one name.

Mujahid said in a text message to The Associated Press that an Afghan policeman opened fire and killed three people, including the American.
