Dolphin Trapped in Brooklyn's Gowanus Canal dies

An injured dolphin, almost seven feet long and weighing about 200 pounds, was discovered in the Gowanus Canal today near Nevins and Union Street in Brooklyn, New York on January 25. A crowd drawn by the unexpected sight of a dolphin in Brooklyn's Gowanus Canal became witnesses to a tragedy Friday when the trapped animal died after struggling for hours to escape the toxic water.
