Drunk Asylum Seeker Killed Leeds Model on M62

A drunk driver who killed an aspiring English model when he drove the wrong way down a highway has been jailed for eight years. Zimbabwean national Wilfred Museka, 31, had consumed so much alcohol he could not remember why he was driving in West Yorkshire in the early hours of September 16. CCTV shows the asylum seeker driving onto the exit ramp of the M62 despite a motorist in the breakdown lane waving their arms to alert him of his mistake. About a kilometre later he crashed head-on into a car containing 20-year-old Rebecca Caine. Caine, who was sitting in the passenger seat but not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown backwards through the rear window of the car and died of multiple injuries. The three other occupants, who were wearing seatbelts, received cuts and bruises. Museka had never held a full driver's license in the UK and had 11 previous driving-related convictions. Sergeant Lee Westhead thanked Rebecca's family for their dignity and patience after her death. "Their daughter was taken from them in a senseless and totally avoidable act by a selfish individual with no respect for other road users," Sgt Westhead said. "Wilfred Museka thought nothing of consuming so much alcohol that he was over twice the legal limit and then went on to drive the wrong way down a motorway." Museka had been more than twice the legal blood-alcohol limit.
