Meth Head Killed Ashley Key and Her Sister - Gather.com

Breaking update: Ashley Key and her sister Britny Haarup were allegedly murdered by a man named Clifford D. Miller -- who was high on crystal meth at the time of the killings. He is who led police to the women's bodies, and the details in this heartbreaking case are nothing short of gruesome. The following details are transcribed from the press conference held by officials, although the video players provided by Missouri sources were barely operational. Hopefully this transcription will help in getting the news out there.

Clifford D. Miller admitted to police that he approached the home of Britny Haarup with the hopes of having sex with her. It's not entirely confirmed as to whether or not the two had engaged in sexual relations prior to this day, but it's speculated that he wanted to rape her. When he went into the home he was surprised by Ashley Key, the young woman's sister. In a panic, while high on crystal meth, Miller brutally beat and smothered Key to death.

He then entered the room where Britny Haarup slept with her children and beat and smothered her to death as well. He, first, moved her two babies to their crib as she was evidently co-sleeping with them. It's not immediately known as to whether she was sexually assaulted or not. Clifford Miller claims to have stayed in the home for about an hour before stealing four firearms and smoking more crystal meth. He then drove the women out to a farm and dumped their bodies. He has been charged with two counts of first degree murder and his file can be seen here.

The gruesome details of this crime indicate that both Ashley Key and her sister Britny Haarup suffered greatly at the hands of this monster. However, there are still many questions in this case regarding the relationships this man had with his victims, their friends or their family members. Edgerton is a rather small town, so the people had to have known one another. This also doesn't answer the question on how Matt Meyers, the fiance' of Haarup, knew immediately that guns were missing.

Did Britny Haarup have a prior relationship of any kind with this man? It was earlier speculated by the girls' father that Ashley's "colorful past" may have caught up with her, so it's reasonable to ask if she knew Clifford Miller. However, it appears as though she surprised him, and he was there to see Britny. This kind of adds a twist to a terrible case as it is. Were all of these young people involved with the use of crystal meth and other criminal activities? Was this Clifford individual a friend of Matt's? All of these questions are valid, and hopefully they garner some credible answers.
