The body of slain US tourist Sarai Sierra was flown back to the United States on Thursday (February 7), five days after Turkish police said they had found the remains of the missing tourist in Istanbul. Sierra, 33, from New York City, had been travelling alone and was reported missing on January 21. State-run Anatolian news agency said her body was discovered in the ruins of the old city wall by residents in the low-income Sarayburnu neighborhood and that Sierra's driving licence was found on the body. Anatolian said the cause of death had yet to be determined but police were investigating the possibility that Sierra had been killed elsewhere and her body moved to Sarayburnu. According to Turkish police, when Sierra was found, she was wearing only a shirt and underwear but still had several pieces of gold jewellery on her. Turkish police obtained DNA samples from 21 people who were being questioned, local media reported. | From: MinWashingtonNews Views: 0 0 ratings | |
