PARODY FORT MYERS, FL - MAN WANTS TO HELP OBAMA SLASH THE FEDERAL DEFICIT Man threatens officers with machete at police station A man walked into the Fort Myers Police Department Wednesday morning and threatened officers with a machete. MACHETE ATTACK Fort Myers man wield first 1st presidential debate 2012 romney samuel jackson wake up Dejuan Jarrell Anderson, 19, of Fort Myers, showed up in the lobby around 7:15 am and asked to speak to an officer. Surveillance video from the incident shows Anderson with the machete as officers confront him. Police say one officer pulled his taser, but Anderson was able to swing the machete and cut the wires on it. "The subject swung the machete, cutting the wire and rendering it useless. Both officers then drew their weapons," said Captain Jim Mulligan. Within seconds - the lobby was filled with 8 officers. Lt. Randy Jelks tasered him a few moments later, and Anderson was taken to the floor. "I fired it one time and it hit him and he dropped the machete," he said. "If he would've made a move towards an officer to harm him he could've been seriously injured or killed." Instantly, the officers swarmed Anderson. "When I first spoke to him and saw him, he didn't say anything at all," Jelks said. Luckily no officers were hurt. But police say its a good reminder of what can go wrong in the workplace.
