Brahmin Girl Killed for Marrying Jat Boy in Haryana

Despite all attempts at creating awareness and a movement against honor killing in Haryana yet another young girl was killed in Panipat by her parents for marrying against her parents' wishes and that too into a different caste. After delaying the issue, Police have now registered a case against five including the girl's mother and father on a complaint from the husband of the killed girl. The girl was a Brahmin and the boy a Jat. Ajay Rohil and Indu Sharma studied together in the second year Business Administration Class in NC College Panipat. Having fallen in love the two decided to get married. Since the girls parents were opposing the marriage the two went in for a court marriage on October 10. Being an intercaste marriage the Punjab and Haryana High Court also ordered police protection for the couple. However, just a few days post marriage the girl's parents convinced the boy's family to allow the girl to go home with them saying they will go in for a full social marriage on November 24. That did not happen. Early Saturday morning Ajay received an urgent call from a friend saying his wife Indu had been killed and was being cremated in a hurry. When Ajay's father rushed to the nearest police station in Panipat to seek police assistance, instead of rendering help he was restrained in the police post. Ajay rushed to the cremation spot and on seeing the horrific sight that his wife was being cremated in a hurry he rushed to another police post and said his wife had been <b>...</b>
