Body found is that of man who killed five in Alabama, Tennessee - NBCNews.com (blog)

Updated at 10:15 p.m. ET: A body found in Hazel Green, Ala., has been identified as that of the man wanted for questioning in the deaths of five people, a county coroner said Tuesday.

Authorities have ID'd the body as that of Warren Vincent Crutcher, 24.

Whisenant said the death was not a suicide but did not elaborate.

Earlier Tuesday, a victim identified as Jeffrey Pope was found dead in Huntsville, Ala., NBC station WSMV-TV of Nashville reported.

He died of a gunshot to the chest, NBC station WAFF-TV of Huntsville reported. Pope's mother said he had been friends with Crutcher.

On Monday night, police found the body of Jessica Brown at her home in Fayetteville, Tenn. Her 2-month-old son was found unharmed.

Hours earlier, three bodies were found at another Fayetteville home. The dead were identified as Amber McCaulley, Chabreya Campbell and Campbell's 18-month-old son, Rico Ragland. Campbell was also several months pregnant.

Another boy, 3-year-old Vincent Crutcher, was found unharmed at the home.

Authorities have not said how the Fayetteville victims died.

Crutcher was arrested in March 2011 after assaulting Campbell and taking their child, the Huntsville Newswire reported. The report did not make clear whether Vincent Crutcher was the child who was taken.

Officials believe Crutcher is the father of the two boys left unharmed, WSMV reported. They do not believe he was the father of Rico Ragland.
