20 Killed In Fiery Tanker Crash

Associated Press | Beijing | 2:14pm, Jun 29, 2012 A tanker truck filled with petrol collided with a truck in Guangzhou on Friday, setting off an explosion and a massive fire that left 20 people dead and 14 others hurt. The tank truck carrying 40 tons of gasoline collided with another truck at 4:34 am on the Yanjiang Expressway in the provincial capital Guangzhou. Oil leaked from the tanker truck and triggered an explosion that set a timber mill and work sheds under the expressway bridge on fire. Most of those hurt were workers from the factory and one of them was severely injured, it said. Other Chinese media reported that the tanker truck fell on its side and that the fire blazed across 2000 square metres of land, burning several other vehicles. Footage on CCTV's noon bulletin showed the fire had been put out.
