Hamas, Israel attack each other on Twitter and YouTube

The military wing leader of the Palestinian group Hamas, Ahmed al-Jabari, was killed in Gaza by a targeted Israeli airstrike Wednesday. Since then, the violence has spread, with rockets and gunfire on both sides. The sex language each are using on Twitter and YouTube is more than harsh, intended to stir up supporters. Israel announced the strike against Jabari, as well as a series of other coordinated military attacks, via Twitter. The strikes on Hamas and Gaza come at a time of rising tensions in the region, with relations between Israel and Egypt complicated by new Islamist leadership in Cairo complicating things. Israel has suffered a barrage of rocket attacks from Gaza — which is wedged between Israel and Egypt — in the last year, though Hamas is not thought to be directly responsible for the attacks.
