Authorities have identified a Korean college student who died after a sand pit collapsed on him at an Oxnard Beach. Mingyu "Paul" Sang, 19, of South Korea, and a group of friends had dug a 6 to 8 feet deep pit Wednesday afternoon at Oxnard State Beach Park in the 1600 block of South Harbor Boulevard. Witnesses said that Sang was lying on the bottom of the pit -- apparently trying to photograph it from inside -- when the sides caved in.Sang was a freshman at Master's College in Santa Clarita and had been living in the United States as a permanent resident for 5 years, officials said. Rescuers using 5-gallon buckets and shovels were able to locate the man, and it took them about 15 minutes to extricate him. Sang was rushed to the hospital, with CPR in progress, but the efforts to revive him were not successful. | From: CalMeMayBe Views: 0 0 ratings | |
