Chinese Dairy Company Forced to Recall Another Baby Product

China's Bright Dairy & Food Co Ltd has been ordered to recall a cheese product for babies. It contains a banned additive, a Shanghai newspaper reported on Thursday. It's the company's second food scandal in two weeks, following the recall of batches of sour milk last week. Other dairy products from the company are still available. But shoppers are losing confidence in Chinese dairy products. [Du Ming'e, Mother]: "I'm very worried by the milk recall today. I will not be feeding my baby any Chinese dairy products in the future. I will definitely choose overseas brands." China's milk industry is struggling to restore consumer confidence after a series of scandals, the worst of which was in 2008 when milk and infant formula laced with the industrial chemical melamine killed at least six children and made nearly 300000 ill. [Chen Shouchan, Shanghai Resident]: "Chinese-produced milk should still be consumed. We should support our country's industries so that they can get stronger. But I hope the government will monitor more strictly and the factories will be more self-regulated. Then the people can purchase the products without having to worry, and our generations to come will be healthier." According to the state-run Shanghai Daily newspaper, Bright Diary will be charged penalties for changing its formula without authorization.
