Syria Crisis?More than 100 reportedly killed in Syria

Violence continues across Syria. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says more than 100 Syrians were killed on Wednesday, including 76 unarmed civilians, 11 activist fighters, three defected soldiers, and 12 members of the Syrian regular forces. Several activist videos posted online purportedly show the ongoing bitter hostilities in the Syrian cities of Aleppo and Damascus. In footage said to be filmed in Aleppo, activists fire rockets from a rubble strewn street. Further material shows the clearing of rubble following the collapse of a building in Aleppo. The voice on the video claims that more than 20 people were buried when the structure came down following air strikes by government forces. Other video shows clouds of dust and smoke billowing over a neighbourhood of Damascus. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says several blasts have been heard in the capital Damascus, and explosions have been heard just south of the city. The Britain-based watchdog says rebels have also attacked Hamdan military airport in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor. Having failed to persuade the international community to impose a no-fly zone over Syria, the rebel-Free Syria Army has increasingly targeted airports used by government attack helicopters and warplanes. New UN-Arab League envoy, Lakhdar Brahimi made comments as the International Committee of the Red Cross chief, Peter Maurer, launched a mission in Syria to seek greater protection for civilians.
